Tallahassee Opens Temporary Cold Night Shelters Through January 9th

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - With low temperatures reaching below 35 degrees this week, the City of Tallahassee will have a temporary cold night shelter open from Monday through Friday night.

The city says that temporary cold night shelter operations will be located at Jacob Chapel Baptist Church on 2333 Lake Bradford Road. 

Any adult male who needs temporary shelter from cold weather should report to The Shelter on 480 West Tennessee St. The Shelter will transport people to Jacob Chapel Baptist Church.

The cold night shelter is coordinated by The Shelter. It opens at 9pm and remains open overnight, closing the following morning at 7am.

The shelter at Jacob Chapel Baptist Church is open to adult males only. Women and families with children are advised to go directly to The Shelter.

StarMetro will provide transportation between The Shelter and Jacob Chapel Baptist Church. One trip is scheduled to leave The Shelter at 9pm.

Adult males must pre-register at the Shelter by 6:45 p.m.; no walk-ins at the cold night shelter will be allowed.
