TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man was arrested for cutting a Winn-Dixie co-worker's fingers with a knife.

Tiee Min Shyu, 70, was booked into the Leon County Detention Center on Tuesday on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

He and the victim were working in the meat department of Winn-Dixie, 111 South Magnolia Drive, when they had a verbal disagreement, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Shyu deliberately bumped into the victim, who walked to another part of the department, and Shyu walked over to him and stepped close while carrying a large knife in his right hand.

The victim said he raised his hands to block an expected stab and Shyu swung the knife at him, causing cuts to the victim's middle and ring fingers. An officer was later told the cuts may have caused tendon damage.

Security video at Winn-Dixie supported the victim's version of events, the Tallahassee Police Department investigator said.

Shyu said he and the victim often disagreed and occasionally bumped into each other.

On the day of the incident, Shyu said, he had forgotten he had the knife in hand and "accidently" cut the victim.

Shyu noted on his application for the appointment of a public defender that he "may lose job b/c of charges."
