MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The state of Alabama and a Roman Catholic broadcasting network are again suing over the birth control mandate in the nation's new health care law.

Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange and the Eternal Word Television Network filed suit Monday in federal court.

Strange and Alabama-based EWTN say they're challenging a requirement in the law that makes employers provide contraception and abortion drugs in health care plans for workers.

The suit contends the mandate is unconstitutional on religious grounds since Catholic teaching opposes contraception and abortion.

A federal judge in Birmingham previously dismissed a similar suit as being premature, but Eternal Word says it now faces a July 1 deadline for complying with the law.
