BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) - Many consider football to be one of the great American pastimes. With more kids taking to the field every day, shining a light on safety is critical.

On Monday, mothers in Bainbridge tackled the basics of football at the Atlanta Falcon Moms Football Safety Clinic.

The Clinic is making its way around the Southeast to help educate mother who have children that want to to play tackle football.

Leanne Buchanan, a mother attending the clinic, said she came out because of her three sons, "I wanted to get an idea about what goes on behind the scenes, and a general idea about the right way to play football."

The clinic included presentations on player safety, proper equipment fitting, performance enhancing drugs, as well as concussion awareness.

After a short time inside, moms then headed out to the field to learn some basic drills.

Florida State alumni and Heisman trophy winner, Charlie Ward was also in attendance at the event. The clinics continue over the next couple of months with one in Tifton and Savannah.
