MOULTRIE, Ga. (WTXL) - Agriculture is the backbone of Georgia.

And with the constant need for farmers, one south Georgia farmer recently got his start with the use of Moultrie Certified Ag mentors.

Just months ago, Ivan and Wanda Minks transitioned from economic development to raising cattle.

They weren't sure how to get started. So they reached out to Moultrie Certified Ag Mentor P.L. Jowers, who helped them turn a passion into reality.

Since December 2017, the Minks have grown their business exponentially.

In fact, they say they’re the first farmers to raise organic beef in Georgia.

"There's that specific market that wants grass fed, that wants organic that's in our market place," Ivan Minks said, "And, that's who we target."

They say they have a long history of working in agriculture and are excited to bring organic beef to Georgia.

They drove from Barnesville to Moultrie to attend the SCORE Ag Mentor event to gain more insight into this industry.
