TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Smokey Hollow commemoration at Cascades Park is almost completed.
It stands in remembrance of the African American community that existed in the area from its founding after the Civil War to its destruction in the 1960's.
Smokey Hollow covered much of what is now Cascades Park and was once home to the city's emerging black middle class.
The commemoration will feature an open air pavilion as well as community garden boxes and historical information.
