Single car crash sends woman to Tallahassee hospital in serious condition

GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) -A woman has suffered serious injuries in a single car accident after driving off the road and crashing into a tree in Gadsden county.

18-year-old Miniya Smith of Midway, sustained serious injuries in the accident.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident at about 2:40 a.m. on County Road 268 and Rosedale Road, on Sunday.

According to FHP, Smith was driving on County Road 268 when she lost control of her car, which then caused her to drive off the road and crash into a tree.

Reports say Smith was not wearing a seat belt during the crash. 

Smith was immediately transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Gadsden County Sheriff Department, Gadsden County EMS, Midway Fire Department, and the Wetumpka Volunteer Fire Department.

FHP says charges are pending and the crash is still under investigation.
