TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - As thousands in Texas and Louisiana start to recover from Hurricane Harvey, the Second Harvest of the Big Bend is collecting donations to help.

With food donations coming from across the country, the second harvest of the big bend is being asked to provide other types of donations. They're all going to Texas and Louisiana and starting Tuesday, you can help make a difference.

"I don't know what it is, but this community really cares about the folks that live here in north central Florida but also around the country," said

Rick Minor, the CEO of Second Harvest of the Big Bend. "So, once Hurricane Harvey hit, we were overwhelmed with the calls from people around here that wanted to help."

Second Harvest is teaming up with its Feeding Florida partners and Feeding America to organize a three-day "Care Drive."

Cleaning supplies, hygiene items, paper products, even diapers -- they can all be dropped off at the warehouse on entrepot boulevard.

"If you'd like to come by and donate to Second Harvest, we can make sure those folks in southeastern Texas will get them," said Minor.

While Second Harvest encourages bringing in physical donations, the group also suggests making a financial contribution to organizations already on the ground.

The Care Drive will run Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. To 7 p.m. All donations should be new and unopened and clothing will not be accepted.
