ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Police Department sent out a request for the public to be on the lookout for a missing child, Tuesday morning.

Bruce Lemon-Curry, 11, had autism and wandered away from his home at approximately 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

APD announced Wednesday that his body had been recovered in a nearby pond at Holloway Park, just after 7:00 a. m. The pond is off Jefferson and Monroe, just a half mile from the home.

The assistant police chief said they checked the pond yesterday for two hours and did not find him. They found his body when they went back to recheck this morning.

APD first focused their search in the 500 block of West Gordon Avenue and brought in its mobile command post. A helicopter flew overhead Tuesday.

Officials asked that everybody keep the family in their prayers, and to respect their privacy.
