LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Due to the potential for heavy rain and possible flooding, Leon County officials say they are giving away sandbags to the community.

Leon County emergency management officials say that they have set up stations providing sand, bags, and ties. The only thing you are asked to bring is your own shovel.

The sandbags will be available at the following locations starting at 10 a.m.:

•    Tekesta Park, at Tekesta Drive and Deer Lake Road in Killearn Lakes

•    Apalachee Regional Park (Landfill), 7550 Apalachee Parkway

•    J. Lee Vause, 6024 Old Bainbridge Road

•    At the intersection of Oak Ridge Rd at Ranchero Rd

Officials say that these posts will not be staffed but residents are asked to take no more than 15 bags so that there's enough for others.

Leon County officials advise that you should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take the necessary safety precautions.

They warn that any and all flood water should be considered to be contaminated and warn parents not to allow children to play in, wade through or swim in flood water.
