TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL)-- Governor Scott has been touring areas hit hardest by Hurricane Hermine and declared Power Restoration has his top priority.

Sunday the governor directed the Florida Department of Transportation to begin surveying downed power lines throughout Leon County and to mark them as a hazard to the public.

Scott also asked the Florida Department of Transportation to begin surveying bus stops, school entrances, and medical facilities to report any new downed power lines that may be a safety issue.

He says, “While power restoration efforts are ongoing, I would like to do everything possible to increase the pace of power restoration. I am committed to making every resource available to assist the City of Tallahassee to fully restore power. The residents of Tallahassee deserve nothing less than 100 percent power restoration. I asked Mayor Gillum to let me know today by 8:00 pm if the city will utilize these efforts so we can quickly deploy help to impacted areas."

The governor hopes for these efforts to speed the restoration process.
