TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It was an exciting day for Florida State University as University President John Thrasher greeted the President of Botswana, all while the Marching Chiefs played behind them.

His Excellency President Masisi, his wife, and young daughter met with University President John Thrasher and his wife Jean Friday.

The newly elected Botswanan leader received his Master's degree in education from FSU in 1990, before returning to his home country to work in education and politics.

Thrasher and Masisi met Thursday to discuss the possibility of a partnership between the country and the university.

"So there's a lot of value to that you bring. We have a number of university's both public and private that would benefit from partnering with you," said President Masisi. "I want to besiege you to use me and abuse me in creating those linkages and rekindling them."

President Masisi also met some of the African students at FSU, including one student from Botswana.
