BOONSBORO, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say a 46,000-piece of mechanical equipment fell from a tractor trailer onto Interstate 70 in Washington County.

It happened about 2 p.m. Monday in Boonsboro. Troopers said in a news release that the equipment broke free of its restraints and fell on the shoulder in the westbound lanes.

Police say equipment destroyed portions of the asphalt shoulder and about 25 feet of guardrail.

The equipment was transferred to another truck.

The driver, Mikhail Bagdasarov of Gainesville, Florida, was cited for failing to secure the load.
