TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A Tallahassee man will spend 30 years in the Florida Department of Corrections after being found guilty of sexually abusing a child in his care.

Gary Warren was found guilty at trial of three counts of sexual battery by familial or custodial authority, two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation, and two counts of battery of child by expelling certain fluids onto child. He was sentenced to 30 years in the Florida Department of Corrections followed by 10 years of sex offender probation.

Warren has also been designated as a sexual predator.

On Sept. 2, Tallahassee Police officers responded to a call regarding a lewd or lascivious battery. The reporting adult told officers that the victim, a 13-year-old girl, disclosed to her that Warren had began inappropriately touching the victim since 2017.

Arrest documents say Warren lived with the victim during that period of time and would regularly molest the victim and force her to participate in sex acts with him.

During the period of abuse, the victim told investigators Warren told her not to tell anyone and regularly expressed fear of being caught. The victim said that Warren told her if she told anyone, he would go into the yard and shoot himself.
