PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (WTXL) - A Florida man accused of stealing pills thought he was stealing opioids... until he realized he had stolen laxatives instead.

The alleged pill thief, 56-year-old Peter Emery, thought he had swiped opioids but got a mouth full of laxatives instead.

According to WPBF, Emery was caught on video "entering a victim's lock box" at a Pinellas Park home last week.

He poured the pills out from a bottle that was labeled hydrocodone-acetaminophen, a pain medicine that can be highly addictive.

However, Equate Gentle Laxative was inside the bottle instead. According to documents obtained by the Smoking Gun, Emery he reportedly admitted to ingesting two of the pills because he thought they were Hydrocodone but he threw them away once he figured out they were something else.

Emery was arrested and booked on a felony charge and probation violation charges.
