TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee woman is facing multiple charges after deputies say she crashed into a car and a bike path sign before assaulting a deputy.
Kaylee Evans, 27, was arrested on Friday.
According to an arrest document, Evans was arrested after Leon County deputies responded to a traffic crash on Capital Circle SW.
When they arrived, they found an SUV with extreme front end damage and a oldsmobile 10 yards away with extreme rear end damage.
After speaking to the the owner of the oldsmobile and surrounding witnesses, they learned Evan's had crashed into the oldsmobile and ran it off the road.
Investigators say the crash caused the oldsmobile at least $10,000 in damages. Reports say Evans also hit a bike path sign, causing at least $200 in damage.
When deputies went to talk to Evans, they found her to be incoherent. The report says that when deputies told her she had been in a wreck, she stated twice that, "I did not hit myself, see that car?"
They note that Evans' speech was "severely slurred, her eyes were glassy, and she was unable to keep focus" as they spoke. In fact, they said she was unable to finish a sentence during the 15 minutes spent on scene with her.
After refusing multiple times to show her license, deputies removed her from the car. That's when documents say she started screaming wildly, saying she would not perform field sobriety exercises.
Deputies worked together to get her into the patrol car, but they say she started to kick at them and tried to bite them.
While in route to the jail, Evans started screaming that she wanted to go home and began pounding her fist on the patrol car's glass. Realizing that Evans had somehow slipped one of her handcuffs off, deputies stopped the car and called for back up.
Before back up could arrive, documents say Evans again started pounding on the glass so deputies got out of the car and tried to calm her down. As they tried to grab her hands, Evans swung at a deputy, hitting him in the face.
Eventually deputies were able to get control of Evans and took her to the Leon County Detention Facility where she was held on a $4,000 bond. She was charged with DUI, two counts of DUI property damage, resisting a deputy with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Evans has since bonded out.
