TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - If you've been to a Bruegger's Bagels in Tallahassee, you need to look at your credit and debit card statements for any unauthorized charges.

Thursday, Caribou Coffee, Bruegger’s Bagels, and Coffee & Bagel Brands posted letters to their websites notifying customers of a recent data breach.

According to officials, the company noticed unusual activity on their network on Nov. 28. Working with a cyber security firm, the company determined that someone had gained unauthorized access to the company's point of sale systems, exposing some customers' data.

The unauthorized access was then shut down immediately. Officials say they "are confident that the breach has been contained."

However, customers who visited a Bruegger's location between Aug. 28 and Dec. 3 may have had their credit card information accessed. Officials say there is a possibility that those customers' names and credit card information, to include the card's expiration date and card security code, may have been accessed through the breach.

They say payments made through Bruegger’s Bagels Inner Circle accounts or customer loyalty accounts were not affected. Catering orders placed online with Bruegger’s Bagels and Einstein Bros. Bagels were also unaffected by the breach.

Customers who visited affected locations, including locations in Tallahassee, are encouraged to review and monitor your credit and debit card statements for any unauthorized charges.

"We sincerely apologize that this breach occurred and assure you that our team is working to help prevent data security issues from occurring in the future. The privacy and security of your information is very important to us and we remain committed to doing everything we can to maintain the confidentiality of your information. We appreciate your patience and loyalty as a customer." - Tyler Ricks, president of Bruegger's Bagels

If you think you have been affected, you should contact your debit or credit card company and report the potential unauthorized activity. To see the full list of affected stores, click here
