TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - National and local officials came together Wednesday afternoon in the Capital City, to take a look at how counties in our area are combating chronic poverty.

Officials said that nearly two-thirds of the nation's 3,069 counties, are designated as "rural" with a combined population of 60 million people.

Elected officials from these rural areas are responsible for impacting rural life and development.

At Wednesday's Symposium for the National Association of Counties, participants discussed obstacles and challenges these rural counties are facing.

They also highlighted what's to come in the next 10 years for the future of anti-poverty efforts around the country.
