LEON CO., Fla. (WTXL) - A man is in the hospital with serious injuries after a motorcycle crash on Interstate 10 near mile marker 211 in Leon County. It happened just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2015.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) a semi tractor-trailer, driven by 30-year old Jimmy Alan Sewell II of Fitzgerald, Georgia, was heading west on I-10 when he had a tire blowout.

Troopers say this caused the tire to separate and debris landed in the path of a motorcycle driven by 66-year old Lonnie Allen Jennings of Madison, Tennessee.

FHP says as Jennings tried to steer out of the way, his motorcycle slid towards the shoulder of the road and he was thrown from it.

Jennings was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with severe injuries.
