THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - The body of a 72-year old Thomas County man reported missing Wednesday morning has been recovered.

Marvin Beiler was inside a van that was pulled from Thompson Mill Pond Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier, his family told the Thomas County Sheriff's Office that he might have been driving the van. At about 9:30 a.m., deputies found tire tracks going from Dollar Store Road into the pond.

A dive team found the van.

"The vehicle was an identical match. There was a gentleman on scene who was a neighbor and he immediately identified him, as well as another family member that was here," said Capt. Steven Jones with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office.

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office is handing this case over to Georgia State Patrol to investigate the cause of the crash.
