TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff's Office is looking for information on a masked suspect who attempted to shoot a store clerk during an armed robbery.

They say the incident happened on April 3, around 10 p.m. at the San Marco Shell at 4620 Woodville Highway.

Deputies say a masked, African-American man came into the store to commit an armed robbery. Thanks to the clerk's quick thinking, his efforts were thwarted as the clerk held the door to the cash register closed.

While trying to pull the door open, the clerk told deputies the suspect pulled the trigger of his gun. The clerk heard a click, but fortunately, the gun seemed to misfire or was improperly loaded.

The suspect is approximately 5-foot-5 in height, with a medium build, and was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, red capri style shorts, black and white sneakers, and had a mask.

LCSO says the mask was similar to the ones seen in the movie, "The Purge."
