DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A 27-year-old Daytona Beach man is accused of fatally stabbing and beating his grandmother.

Patrick Campbell surrendered Thursday at the FBI office in Daytona Beach. Officials say he confessed to killing his grandmother, whose body was found Wednesday in her home.

Campbell is charged with the first-degree, premeditated murder of 64-year-old Darlene Robertson.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1LyY6k6 ) reports Campbell contacted attorney Catherin Drees and asked her to introduce him to a federal agent because he knew he was wanted and he feared local police. Police say Campbell drove his grandmother's car to the attorney's office, which is in the same building as the FBI office.

Drees told the newspaper Campbell is a potential paranoid schizophrenic.

Campbell is being held without bond at the Volusia County Jail.
