TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man arrested on drug charges after a Florida Highway Patrol trooper stopped him for a window tint violation admitted to selling marijuana to make an income.

Lernard Tyrone Tiggs, 36, was booked into the Leon County Detention Center on Tuesday.

He was held on $35,000 bond. His charges include possessing marijuana and cocaine with intent to sell, distributing methamphetamine, possessing a controlled substance without a prescription, and possessing narcotics equipment.

The troooper said that, while traveling southbound on Texas Street, he saw Tiggs' vehicle and, upon stopping it, tested the front driver's side window with a tint measuring device. The window was below the legal minimum of 28 percent.

While speaking with Tiggs, the trooper wrote in a probable cause affidavit, the trooper said he saw a suspected marijuana shaker on the driver's side floorboard.

A second trooper had a K9 do a "free air sniff of the vehicle." After the dog alerted to the odor of narcotics, the trooper detained Tiggs in a patrol car and advised him of his Miranda Rights.

Tiggs told the trooper about marijuana and cocaine under the driver's seat. Troopers found other drugs in the vehicle along with two digital scales.

At the Leon County Detention Center, Tiggs admitted to selling marijuana to make an income, the trooper wrote.

"Tiggs stated he just found a job and was eventually going to taper off once he started making a legitimate income," the court document said. "Tiggs said he does not use cocaine and it was meant for a friend."

The marijuana weighed a total of 73.5 grams and the cocaine 2.5 grams.
