Man hospitalized after hitting utility pole in Marianna

MARIANNA, Fla. (WTXL) - An 18-year-old is hospitalized after he hit a utility pole head-on while in possession of drugs. 

On Friday at about 12:53 a.m., officers responded to a traffic crash near the intersection of Kelson Avenue and Caledonia Street. 

When officers arrived on scene, they saw a white Mitsubishi that hit a utility pole head on.  

Officers then found the driver of the car, 18-year-old Chance Keith, behind the car and bleeding heavily from his head. 

Jackson County Fire Rescue arrived on scene and took Keith to Jackson Hospital due to his injuries. 

While officers were doing their traffic crash investigation, they found two partially burnt marijuana cigarettes lying in plain view.  

Officers then conducted a search of Keith’s car and found individually packaged THC oil dispensary cartridges and 15 Xanax pills. 

His charges of possession of THC oil, possession of Xanax, and possession of marijuana are currently pending due to his injuries.
