VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A man is behind bars in Valdosta, charged with breaking into a hotel room.

The Valdosta Police Department says that Darron Lee, 45, was arrested on Friday.

On Friday, around 9:30 a.m., officers responded to a hotel room in the 2500 block of N Ashley Street. When they arrived, the victim told them that someone had broken into her hotel room and had stolen multiple items.

The victim also told them she believed she knew the suspect, Lee, who lived within walking distance of the hotel.

When VPD officers went to  the 2400 block of University Drive in search of Lee, they immediately saw multiple items on the front porch of a house that matched the list of property stolen.

However, when they talked to the homeowner, they said they were not aware that someone's property had placed on the porch. Witnesses also corroborated the homeowner's story, saying that someone matching Lee's description had been in the area around the time of the burglary.

Lee was eventually spotted by an officer on Pendleton Place. Lee tried to run away but was caught when police deployed a K-9.

Lee has been charged with burglary though police say more charges are pending.
