TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man was seen on video stealing a cell phone and earbuds from FSU's library.

Anthony Emanuel, 45, was arrested by the FSU Police Department after being seen on video stealing from a student in the school's library.

On March 2, around 12 a.m., the victim was studying in the library at the College of Engineering A Building with her boyfriend.

The victim told officers that she had her iPhone 7 and pink Sony ear buds with her at the desk she was using. The police report states that she got up to use the bathroom at around 3 a.m. and left her phone on the desk because the battery was dead.

At 7 a.m. the victim realized her iPhone and Sony earbuds were gone. The victim said the iPhone was black and had a blue shell case on it.

The victim believed the phone to be 32 GB and officers valued the iPhone at $500, the blue shell case at $20, and the pink Sony earbuds at $20.

On March 8, officers reviewed video of where the incident took place. They saw Emanuel cleaning the area and picking up the cell phone.

The victim was in the video sitting at a computer with her back facing Emanuel. Emanuel briefly looked at the phone before putting it in his pocket.

Officers were informed that Emanuel was the only person scheduled to clean the building around the time of the incident.

On March 9, officers spoke with Emanuel and asked what he did with the cell phone. He first denied finding a cell phone.

Officers asked him again about the phone, but Emanuel didn't give officers any information regarding it.

After officers informed Emanuel of the video showing him taking the phone, he said the phone was at his house.

Officers drove to Emanuel's home on Saturday Road and were given permission by Emanuel to follow him into his room.

Officers then saw Emanuel take the phone from the bottom drawer of his night stand. Emanuel did not provide the pink headphones that were with the cell phone.

While driving Emanuel back to the College of Engineering, he told officers that he keeps property at his home until someone asks for it.

The College of Engineering has a lost and found and Emanuel's supervisor informed officers that Emanuel has found items around the building before and has turned them into the lost and found.

Emanuel was arrested on March 14 and charged with grand theft. He was transported to Leon County Jail.

He has since bonded out.
