TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man has been arrested in connection to the stabbing at Tallahassee Community College on Tuesday.

According to a Al Moran, VP of Communications and Marketing, Azrikam Franks, 26, was apprehended by authorities.

On Tuesday at about 1:12 p.m., the Tallahassee Community College Police Department received a call in response to a physical disturbance involving a knife.

Officers responded to the west end of TCC's student union and found the victim with a stab wound in the upper back area near his shoulder.

Multiple witnesses said they were present at the time of the stabbing and saw Franks stab the victim, identified in a probable cause document as Javaruis Pearson.

Based on witness statements and video evidence, Franks entered TCC's student union and walked directly into the vending machine room where the incident took place.

Within seconds, an unidentified individual was seen pulling Franks from the building, while the victim was seen leaving the vending machine room with help from several individuals.

Officers stated from what is viewable on video, Franks entered the student union with the intent to engage with the victim.

Based on the evidence, Franks is being charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing bodily harm or disability.

Franks was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Police are on the scene of a stabbing on the campus of Tallahassee Community College.

And right now, the search is on for the suspect.

The TCC Chief of Police says classes are resuming as normal because there’s no danger on campus following the stabbing Tuesday afternoon.

Chief Greg Gibson says he believes the originally argument started off campus. The two men involved are not students or affiliated with the school in any way.

Chief Gibson says things escalated inside the student union, leading one man to stab the other multiple times in the back.

The victim was stabilized on scene and is at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

"We have an officer at the hospital, and we will be conducting interviews with the victim and getting all the information that he can give us," said Chief Gibson. "It is our understanding that he will soon be ready to talk to us."

Chief Gibson says they believe they have enough information to secure an arrest warrant.

He says they have video footage and multiple witnesses from the stabbing. The suspect was last seen running toward Pensacola street.

TCC police are also searching the campus for the weapon used, which they believe to be a knife of some sort.
