TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man was arrested in front of school children walking home from the bus Tuesday afternoon after trying to eat the marijuana he was transporting, court documents show.

According to those documents, 19 year-old Jamaula Vickers was pulled over by a Florida Highway Patrol Officer Tuesday after the officer saw him driving without a seat belt on Highway 20 near Babyberry Road.

The officer said he noticed Vickers chewing on a "green leafy substance" which he told the suspect to spit out. When asked about the substance, Vickers admitted it was marijuana before throwing it out the window of the car, said the trooper.

When the officer went to place Vickers under arrest, he tried to run, said FHP. Two other officers in the area helped to capture Vickers.

After searching the vehicle, officers say they found other drugs and paraphernalia including more marijuana, and an "orange rock like substance" which tested positive for methamphetamine.

According to court documents, when the officers returned for the chewed up marijuana, it was missing from the scene; possibly picked up by the students walking home from the bus.
