MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL)--The Madison County Sheriff's Office believes the people involved in the deadly crash and pursuit in Jefferson County could be connected to an armed robbery that deputies say happened at about 1:50 Thursday morning near 221 and I-10 at the Fast Track gas station.

Deputies are actively investigating the case.

No one was hurt in the robbery, but an undisclosed amount of money was taken.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the 17-year-old driver was headed south in a Ford Explorer on U.S. Highway 221 around 2:30 a.m. when he ran off the road and crashed into some trees.

Troopers say the 15-year-old passenger was killed in the crash.

Madison County deputies say the vehicle the teens were in was stolen.
