TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- A Tallahassee man accused of killing his on-again-off-again girlfriend, then dumping her body in the Ochlockonee River, will stand trial next week.

Orin Battles is charged with the murder of Amanda Evans.

Evans' body was found in February of 2011 in the Ochlocknee River after an extensive three-week search.

"I don't understand how a person can take another peron's life and walk around like it was nothing," Amanda's sister, Janie Evans told WTXL in February of 2011.

Just days after Amanda was found, her mother, Masalean Salters, told WTXL that her daughter and Orin had a rocky relationship.

"He hurt her bad one time, I said you don't know what he got in his mind to do to you now, especially after he cut the brake fluid line on the car," Salters said.

Tallahassee investigators say Amanda Evans was last seen January 29, 2011 on surveillance video, with Battles, at a cash loan business on South Monroe Street. Tallahassee police say Battles, who originally denied any involvement, was linked to the murder through DNA evidence taken from a bloody knife found near the Lake Bradford Road area.

The trial against Orin Battle begins December 10 at the Leon County Courthouse.
