TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- A Tallahassee Police officer has been fired.

TPD Chief Dennis Jones fired Officer Lyle Ottley after an Internal Affairs Investigation found that Ottley had violated several department policies.

In a released to WTXL, Ottley reportedly was found to have violated policies related to conduct, violation of rules and laws, improper handling of his weapon, and unauthorized use of his work vehicle.

Ottley was arrested on May 25, 2012 by Leon County Sheriff deputies. Ottley was later acquitted at trial on a charge of Armed Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling and one count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

According to the attached report, Ottley was accused of going to a home of a woman he shared a child with, and breaking in.

"If an officer violates the rules of our department, there must be accountability. It is my expectation that every employee demonstrate the highest ethical and moral character while representing the police department in order not to violate public trust" said Chief Dennis Jones.
