(WTXL)- A Tift County real estate agent is among those running in Tuesday's District 155 Georgia House of Representative election.
Sherry Miley is running against candidates from three other counties: a former Ben Hill county commissioner, former Ocilla Mayor and a Turner County farmer. All four candidates are running as Republicans.
The election started at 7 a.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. If required, a runoff election will be held August 11th.
The election is in place to fill the open spot left by Rep. Jay Roberts who took the position as the planning director of the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The counties of Ben Hill, Coffee, Irwin, Tift, and Turner make up District 155.
