Returning Airman Killed in Tallahassee Motorcycle Accident

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- The victim of fatal motorcycle crash that happened over the weekend has been identified as a local airman returning from a 6-month deployment to Afghanistan.

Russell Mountain was described as being a " force of nature - funny, adventurous, charming, confident, stubborn, loving, opinionated and most of all, fiercely loyal to those he loved." 

Tallahassee Police said that the 26-year-old died in a motorcycle accident Saturday night.

The accident happened at the intersection of Thomasville Road and Woodgate Way.  The initial report from investigators said that Mountain was driving his motorcycle north on Thomasville Road when he hit a Silver Toyota Corolla that was turning left onto Woodgate Way.

Police said that they are still investigating this accident.

Mountain joined the United States Air Force in 2010 and had just returned home.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Culley's MeadowWood Timberlane Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Friday, August 29, at 10 a.m., followed by interment with full military honors at Culley's MeadowWood Timberlane Road Chapel.
