Program to help seniors protect themselves from fraud

CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Wakulla County Sheriff's Office is teaming up with Florida Department of Financial Services to host a workshop next week to help seniors protect themselves from becoming victims of financial fraud.

Operation SAFE (Stop Adult Financial Exploitation) will be held Thursday, July 11 from 10:30 a.m. until Noon at the Wakulla County Senior Citizens Center, 33 Michael Drive in Crawfordville.

The program was launched as part of CFO Jeff Atwater's On Guard for Seniors initiative.

Attendees will learn about the Psychology of a Scam; How to spot fraudulent behavior; common scams that target seniors; how to fight identity theft, and resources to keep you safe.
