MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- A potent low-pressure system created few instances of extreme storminess, but most areas in north Florida and south Georgia could not escape steady rain which added up to high accumulations in some locations.

Titan Radar-estimated rainfall totals ranged from widespread one to two inch tallies across southern Georgia to two to four inches in the Florida Big Bend.  The highest amounts are centered along the Forgotten Coast, the central Big Bend, and near the Withlacoochee/Suwannee river junction in the interior Big Bend.

Rain gauges near Panacea and St. Marks confirm the radar estimates, with totals between 4" and 4.75" through Friday afternoon.

The official gauge at Tallahassee Regional Airport, so far, has picked up 2.77" of rain.  The total breaks the previous record for Jan. 23 of 2.24", set in 1999.

An additional half-inch to one inch of rain may occur from passing areas of showers and rain before the main cold front sweeps through the region early Saturday morning.

A flood watch previously in effect for Suwannee, Hamilton, Columbia, Echols, and Clinch counties has been canceled, since the heavy rain threat has greatly diminished Friday evening.
