UPDATE: FDLE investigating complaint against Captain at Gadsden Sheriff's Office

GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL)--A Gadsden County deputy is fired for sending inappropriate text messages to a former inmate who at the time was on house arrest.

Deputy Jim Corder worked with the sheriff's office for about 20 years. He was overseeing the jail before being transferred to the road patrol division.

A spokesperson tells us two investigators Kevin Godwin and Robbie Maxwell have been placed on administrative leave with pay as the investigation continues into their possible involvement with the case.

QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL) -- A captain with the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an outside investigation.

A spokeswoman with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement confirms there is an active investigation into unconfirmed reports of misconduct against Captain Jim Corder at the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Morris Young confirmed to WTXL that Corder is currently on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of FDLE's investigation.

Details of the allegations made against Corder in the complaint have not been confirmed, however WTXL is told by a member of the sheriff's office that when they received the complaint, sheriff's office staff forwarded the complaint to FDLE to conduct an outside investigation.

Corder is a near 20-year veteran with the sheriff's office most recently overseeing road patrol operations. Prior to that Corder was assigned to supervise the county jail.

Neither GCSO nor FDLE could comment on the severity of the complaint made or how long an investigation may last.
