TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Saturday, November 22, 2014, the Tallahassee Dream Defenders, Tallahassee Stop the Violence and community members will gather to demand justice for Cheeks shooting victim Duane Strong, 18. They are asking for the firing of the Tallahassee Police Department officer who shot and killed Strong.
The rally will be held outside of Score's Bar, formerly Cheeks Lounge, 2394 West Tennessee Street, Tallahassee, FL 32304.
The goal is to rally against police brutality and misconduct. It is part of a nationwide initiative to curb police violence.
Strong was killed on May 29, 2014 by multiple gunshots by TPD officers while trying to leave the scene. Three officers involved in the shooting were cleared by TPD after an internal investigation.
