TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - One business is providing a way for residents to help local seniors, while getting a little something in return.
Local Senior Discounts is offering member cards for $5 each that can be used to get a variety of discounts at restaurants, beauty salons, hotels and other activities.
Some of those include Blue Halo, Chuy's Mexican, Harry's, Marie Livingston's Steakhouse, Sonny's BBQ, Wahoo seafood and more.
Member cards are available to anyone age 50 and older.
Half of the proceeds from each card sold goes to Elder Care Services' Meals on Wheels program.
Lew Wilson, the president of Local Senior Discounts, says he's looking to expand the member cards to other areas besides Tallahassee.
"It's part of a program that we put together to help seniors save, businesses to prosper and and to support local senior organizations. At the end of the day, it helps everybody, it helps the senior, the business, and the senior organization. We're going to pass this around the state and help senior organizations in every county."
The one time fee of $5 is good for the life of the member card.
