TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Parents and their kids with Autism gathered together to share a comfortable Fourth of July in Leon County.

While many of us will enjoy the bright lights and not be phased by the loud noises of fireworks many kids with autism struggle with the festivities.

To make a more comfortable holiday, Ashley Lewis of the Tallahassee Autism Community, hosted about 30 people with food, drinks and no loud noises.

"We organized the event, because a lot of times in town community events for kids with autism can be very overwhelming," said Lewis. "All the loud noises, all the unexpected noises, the crowd, all those things can be a sensory overload for our kids."

Tallahassee Autism Community is a non-profit organization and hopes to do bigger service in the future.
