TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — One Tallahassee bookstore is inviting the community to celebrate black history month by talking about reading.

Midtown Reader is using their Read to Lead Series to highlight black community leaders and the books that shaped them.

The panelists will talk about the books that have made an impact on their lives and aided in their success.

Thursday's Read to Lead will be moderated by Dr. Ann L. Wead Kimbrough, a professor in the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication at FAMU.

The panelists include John Marks, the former Mayor of Tallahassee and co-owner of the Tallahassee-based Black Television News Channel, and Funmi Ojetayo, a senior attorney with the Florida Department of Agriculture.

The free event starts at 6 p.m. at Midtown Reader on Thomasville Road.

Midtown Reader will have other topics for their Read to Lead series, including a topic on journalists coming up later this year.
