TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Five Leon County schools will be honored in Atlanta at the America’s Healthiest Schools Southern Regional Celebration.

The five schools were named to the 2017 list of America’s Healthiest Schools by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

The complete list of Leon County schools to be recognized Thursday includes:

  • Conley Elementary School, Bronze
  • DeSoto Trail Elementary School, Silver
  • Killearn Lakes Elementary School, Bronze
  • Roberts Elementary School, Silver
  • Sealey Elementary Math Science Magnet School, Bronze

The schools make up five of the 17 Florida schools that made the annual list.

The 2017 list of America’s Healthiest Schools identifies 323 of the nation’s healthiest schools based on the school’s ability to meet certain criteria, including serving healthier meals and snacks, getting students moving more, offering high-quality physical and health education, and empowering school leaders to become healthy role models.

The Southern Regional Celebration will honor 86 schools from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee at one of three levels: Bronze, Silver or Gold.

The schools will be recognized Nov. 9 in Atlanta.
