TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - People are asked to bring their canoes and kayaks to Lake Jackson this Saturday to clean up litter.

The water clean up - set for Saturday, September 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. - will have three locations.

Beginner paddlers will launch from Rhoden Cove at 801 Rhoden Cove Road while experienced paddlers will do so from Crowder Landing at 1053 Crowder Road and Fuller Road Landing at 1294 Fuller Road.

Leon County government is sponsoring the event in partnership with Tall Timbers, Friends of Lake Jackson, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Office of Greenways and Trails, and Sustainable Tallahassee.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own canoes or kayaks, but some canoes and kayaks will be provided at Rhoden Cove for people who don't own ones.

To register, visit GrowingGreen.org/CleanUp.

For more information, contact Tessa Schreiner, Leon County Office of Resource Stewardship, at (850) 606-5000.
