TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A familiar face is joining the fight against cancer. Florida State head football coach Jimbo Fisher spent Tuesday evening with patients and doctors at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

It's all part of the "One Healing Peace" speaker series and tour. The program's purpose is to increase awareness about state-of-the-art technology in the Capital City.

Along with a tour of the cancer center, the hospital also held a silent auction to raise money for local cancer research.

Coach Jimbo Fisher spoke to attendees, saying he hopes tonight's event will put more focus on local research: "Well, I think cancer effects everyone in some form or fashion in their life -  a friends life, family's life, some way, and for these folks out here to be able to put this together and provide hope for these families and treatment for these families, we can eventually beat this dreaded disease. I think there's not a better cause in the world."

Coach Fisher also gave everyone a preview on what he expects for this upcoming football season.
