MARIANNA, Fla. (WTXL) - Two Vero Beach residents were arrested on drug charges after a Jackson County deputy stopped their vehicle for a traffic violation.

Dewy Dodgen, 40, and Jackie Dodgen, 43, were arrested Saturday and taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await a first court appearance. Both face charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, Jackie Dodgen, the deputy saw the front seat passenger trying to place the vehicle's radio into the dash of the vehicle, according to a news release.

The deputy obtained consent to search the vehicle.

Searching the vehicle, the deputy found several items of drug paraphernalia, including a syringe, commonly used to inject illegal narcotics, behind the vehicle's radio.

The deputy also found a small plastic bag of methamphetamine and a glass pipe containing methamphetamine.
