Jackson Co. deputies tackle meth problem

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Police in Jackson County are making a push to be proactive when it comes to dealing with drugs.

This comes after three drug arrests in three days last week, all of those arrests made during traffic stops. Authorities say patrol officers are now working alongside the narcotics department, including using a K-9.

"We focus on two areas. We focus on the users, we try to get them off the streets and then of course we try to focus on the dealers; not only the local dealers, but the people who are bringing [drugs] into the community," said Capt. Scott Edwards of the Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Offices in Jackson, Washington, And Holmes Counties are also working together get the drug users into rehab facilities across the state.
