GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A 19-year-old has been charged with DUI after Quincy Police woke the teen up from sleeping in his car.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the Quincy Police Department responded to a disabled car early Monday morning.

When they arrived, they found that the driver, later identified as 19-year-old Angel Velasquez, was asleep behind the wheel. Troopers write police suspected that the teen was impaired.

A second officer arrived, blocking the teen's car in from the front.

However, when they woke Velasquez, troopers write he placed the car in gear and rove forward, hitting the back of the Quincy Police car in front of him.

Luckily, the Quincy Police car sustained very minor damage and no one was hurt.

Velasquez was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence (DUI).

Troopers note that an FHP car was not involved in the crash.
