TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The community gathered for the 31st annual Tallahassee Community Thanksgiving Celebration at Lake Ella on Thursday.

The feast invited anyone to enjoy a hot meal, music, and even free long distance phone service to call loved ones.

Organizers say they wanted to make sure everyone had a place to go for the holiday, and welcomed people from all walks of life to the celebration.

Vickie Goodman, the Event Coordinator, explains "We like to say it's for people who are not just alone, away from home, or without a home, it's for anybody that really wants to participate in the bigger family celebration. We have a great time, we always order excellent weather and you can see it's a beautiful day here at Lake Ella. So, it's really for just about anybody that wants to come out and enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal in a family setting."

Organizers said they also gave out one thousand coats and blankets to the community at the event, and more donations were taken to Tallahassee's homeless shelter.
