TALLAHASSEE, Fla (WTXL) - As the North Florida Homeless Veteran Stand Down ended, so did the convenience of modern living for one couple.

Veteran Brian Brindza served in the army for four years and after returning he and his wife Anicia Zaporta found themselves out and the streets and had to retreat to the woods for shelter.

For the past ten years they have been applying for housing assistance but have been getting denied.  Most complexes in the area like Tallahassee Veteran Village can only accept individuals who have served, not their spouse or family.

Zaporta said they've visited many complexes in the area but have yet to find one that can accommodate them both.  She said regardless of their current situation, they won't separate and will continue working with Veteran Affairs until they find a real home to call their own
