TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--The little babies attending local care centers are the reason why Pam Davis, the Director for Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend, isn't looking forward to budget cuts to their programs.

"Definitely the children will suffer and their families because our parents are working many of our families are working and going to school at the same time," said Davis.

Head start programs across the nation are all facing cuts as part of the federal governments $85 billion dollar automatic spending reductions.

Davis says her organization may have to cut between $178,000 to more than $350,000  from their budget.

"That's a substantial reduction we would not be able to incur that kind of a cut without severe impact on the children and families that we serve."

That's because they offer a number of services to families in Leon, Madison, and Jefferson counties..including health care, family support, and early learning education.

Its services Leon area director Catherine Moore says are much needed.

"It could effect our families to the point where if they don't have childcare services available or good child care services the parents can potentially lose their jobs," said Moore

Its these smiles that Moore says makes their jobs one of a kind.

But Davis cautions if congress doesn't come up with a decision fast.

"Now these children are going to have to be let go, they're not going to be enrolled anymore the center will have to close down," said Davis.
