GRADY CO., GA (WALB) - A lockdown at a Grady County school was due to a misunderstanding.

According to Superintendent Kermit Gilliard, a pellet gun was found during a search of bookbags at the Grady Educational Center.

Gilliard explained in a Facebook post that the center's director, Noni Brown, called 911 to request an officer when there was a misunderstanding with the operator and police as well as deputies were sent to the campus.

The school system said Cairo High School received a call to go on lockdown, but when officers arrived, they learned the pellet gun was already in Brown's possession and the lockdown was canceled.
